I specialise in the impacts of a rising China on contemporary international politics, focusing on Chinese foreign policy from the perspective of Foreign Policy Analysis and domestic politics. My approach to studying China combines what we might call “area studies” type skills with the disciplinary and theoretical tools of political science and international relations.  Before coming to Exeter, I received my PhD in Politics and International Studies at University of Warwick, MSc at London School of Economics, and MA at University of Manchester. My current research interests include Chinese foreign policy, the Belt and Road Initative, and security of the Indo-Pacific region.
